Cheryl Fitzgerald, DVM,
Dr. Fitzgerald graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine after completing her undergraduate work at Texas State University. She purchased South First Pet Hospital in 2002 from Dr. L. B. Kubiak who owned this clinic since the 1970’s. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, and several donkey and horse associations.

Dr. Fitzgerald lives on a small ranch with her sister Pat and brother Eric. Cheryl and Pat raise, show, and sell Mediterranean Miniature Donkeys (cripplecreekcritters.com). The family shares their home with miniature donkeys, miniature and full size horses, longhorns, dogs, cats, an iguana, and a hooded rat. One of Dr. Fitzgerald’s cats, Sprite, was actually born at South First Pet Hospital. Dr. Fitzgerald is shown with Beau Dunk and Tina; and with her show jack, Caliente (photo courtesy of Sarah Hall Photography).
